Legal Design Best Practices: Build a Better …..

Teaching & Mentorship / Curriculum Development / UX Design Processs / UX Audits / Research Synthesis

Opportunity: In partnership with Michigan Advocacy Program on a Technology Initiative Grant (TIG) from Legal Services Corporation, I co-led a UX Design and Usability testing course with Victoria Suwardiman and Hallie Jay Pope for 24 legal service organizations across the country, as part of the Graphic Advocacy Project. In addition to the course, we conducted 15 UX Audits for civil legal resources.

Impact: Through out train the trainers model, we brought UX design thinking into 24 organizations, who in turn shared these methods and strategies with their own teams and user fracing resources. At the core of GAP’s & MAP’s mission was a goal to democratize these resources and share them with the broader legal aid community. We presented our work and findings at the 2022 TIG Conference and the 2021 Equal Justice Conference, and all resources have been made available on the Legal Services National Technology Assistance Project (LSNTAP) to continue empowering the legal aid community with UX Design resources.
